Step-by-Step Safety

For this cover story, I traveled to Pennsylvania to follow a safety expert/auditor as he conducted a simulated safety audit of a hardware store. I organized the information by area of the store first with how the store I visited fared in the audit, then second with a “Best practices” section outlining advice from the expert on what hardware store owners could be doing to best safeguard their operations. I also coordinated with a staff photographer to set up a photo shoot with the store manager for the November 2013 cover of Hardware Retailing.
